【泪与笑(tears and laughter)】

    黄昏时分，一只戌狗在尼罗河岸上遇到一条鳄鱼，他们停下步来，互相致意。

    戌狗开口说道："先生，你的日子过得怎样？"鳄鱼答道："我的日子过很糟极了。有时候，我因痛苦和烦恼而哭泣，我一哭，人们总是说：不过是鳄鱼的眼泪罢了。这话真使我伤心，真是没法儿说。"

    于是因狗说道："你讲起你的痛苦和你的烦恼，可你也替我想想吧，想一忽儿吧。我凝视着世界上的美，凝视着它的奇观和奇迹，纯粹出于内心的喜悦，我笑了，甚至像白昼一样的笑了。

    而丛林里的居民们却说：不过是戌狗的笑罢了。"
